The HDD is a Seagate and I thought they were supposed to be quiet…. I could try going to great lengths to dampen the HDD noise, but is there another option — simply replace the HDD with a solid-state drive? Then the machine would be silent apart from the fan noise (which is negligible). Is it just a matter of buying a 2.5″ form factor SSD (either 128 GB or 250 GB), fitting it in place of the HDD, and using the menu option for “Format disk”? numpty123 is offline …
