if you are using a pata drive you probably don’t have the connection to hook up the solid state drive which i think you can only get in sata. also the solid state drives are more expensive right now. well the seek time of a PATA HDD would be a lot slower something like 14ms compared to the SSD seek time of like less that 2ms, SSD’s have no moving parts which is a bonus they are much faster than any PATA or SATA HDD.
